is a mixed Asian-American, fat, queer director, educator and collaborator originally from Indiana.
As the daughter of a refugee, she is drawn to stories of diaspora: creating a bridge between otherness and belonging. She wants to create work that expands the American identity beyond monoliths.
Cara does theatre because it holds ritual. And inhabits our present and conjures our future and past.
She is also an animal lover and a five star dogsitter.
Cara is currently a directing apprentice at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Previously, she was the SDC Observer on Hadestown with Rachel Chavkin, the learning and social accountability fellow at Baltimore Center Stage. She is also a founding member of the Baltimore Asian Pasifika Arts Collective.
